Montmorency Grown on Mazzard & Mahaleb Rootstocks This tart cherry variety has long been recognized as the standard of the industry. Montmorency is planted throughout North America and is considered the best tart cherry for the processing market. The fruit is bright red, medium in size, with a clear, juicy flesh. The trees are self-fruitful, winter hardy, and very productive.
A selected strain of Montmorency propagated from bearing trees selected for outstanding qualities and grown under the Pennsylvania Fruit Tree Improvement Program. The isolated budwood orchards are regularly indexed to maintain freedom from viruses. This budwood is placed on certified Mahaleb and certified Mazzard rootstocks, planted in fumigated soil, and grown under a strict cultural and disease-control program.
Certified Penn Premium Montmorency assures you of starting your orchard with the best trees available. Be sure your land is free of nematodes. Test your soil and properly fertilize, and we are certain your orchard will give you outstanding performance.
